Dorothy Penney serves as Underwriting Consultant, supporting Highland Capital Brokerage’s Southeast region, Alternative Distribution, and the National Sales Desk. Dorothy joined Highland in 2006 as a case manager, taking special interest in the underwriting aspect of the position, which prompted her to begin earning her Academy of Life Underwriting (ALU) designation.
Dorothy strongly believes in building relationships by working closely with carrier underwriters. These relationships foster dialogue and negotiation to advocate for the best underwriting outcome. By building communication with the agents with whom she works, she can help them guide a case to a successful completion.
Dorothy prefers the challenge of a complicated case and firmly believes in the value of thorough field underwriting to best manage a client’s expectations. She also enjoys speaking about field underwriting at industry functions, believing that education is the key to success.
Dorothy loves East Coast living with frequent trips to the beach, hiking, camping, and spending time with her family.
