About
Sam Buxton, Senior Advisor Consultant for Highland Capital Brokerage, assists forward-thinking advisors in enhancing their practice by de-risking client portfolios and increasing revenue. With over seven years of experience as an advisor, financial analyst, and wholesaler, Sam works as your business partner, helping increase your practice’s efficiency from case design to business process.
Sam started in the financial services industry as a financial advisor for Northwestern Mutual, and later worked as a wholesaler selling variable annuities for Jackson National Life. After Jackson, he moved back into personal production for a bank channel before joining Highland in 2019.
Sam graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Corporate Risk Management, as well as an MBA. While in graduate school, Sam also worked as a financial analyst for the Center for Business and Economic Research. He currently holds his Series 6 and Series 63, and is securities-licensed.
Sam is extremely family-oriented. A third-generation financial services professional, Sam loves to talk shop with his father and grandfather whenever possible. He is a die-hard New York Giants fan and an avid traveler, and loves coaching his niece’s youth basketball team. Sam also enjoys spending time on the lake—whether fishing, wakeboarding, tubing, or canoeing—and is always ready for a game of pick-up basketball when the opportunity presents itself.
