John Phillips

John Phillips serves as Vice President, Signature Life for Highland Capital Brokerage. He specializes in working with high-net-worth clients and business owners focusing on the proper use of insurance strategies as part of their overall planning. John takes a collaborative approach, working with financial advisors, and other advisors on the client’s team including CPAs, attorneys, insurance agents, trust officers, and bankers.

John uniquely helps advisors deepen client relationships, increase revenue, and solve some of their clients’ biggest problems. He uses a proven process to navigate a decision to change – change from what clients are currently doing in order to follow high-quality advice.

Prior to Highland, John held senior leadership and sales positions with life insurance companies, broker dealers, and banks. These included roles as an Advanced Planning Consultant with Hartford Life, Vice President heading the Insurance Solutions Group at Bank of the West, and Vice President Insurance Business Development/Advanced Markets Consulting with LPL Financial.

He holds the following designations, licenses, and registrations – Certified Financial Planner,® Chartered Life Underwriter,® Chartered Financial Consultant,® Certified in Long-Term Care,® as well as an insurance license in California, and several other states for life, disability, long-term care, and variable contracts. He also holds registrations for the Series 7, 24, 63, and 65.

John is a native Southern Californian and UCLA graduate. He enjoys golfing, gardening, and spending time with family, especially with his adult kids and grandchildren. He and his wife Julie reside in Camarillo, Calif., and together enjoy traveling and working on their 1938 farmhouse.
