John Phillips

John Phillips serves as Vice President, Signature Life for Highland Capital Brokerage. He started in the financial services industry in 1980. John specializes in working with professional, business-owner, and individual clients. In addition, he works with financial advisors, and other advisors including CPAs, attorneys, trust officers, and bankers to provide guidance for the proper use of insurance strategies as part of clients’ overall planning.

Prior to Highland, John held senior leadership, sales, and sales management positions with life insurance companies, broker dealers, brokerage general agencies, and financial services firms. These included roles as an Advanced Planning Consultant with Hartford Life, Vice President heading the Insurance Solutions Group at Bank of the West, and Vice President Insurance Business Development/Advanced Markets Consulting with LPL Financial.

John holds the following designations and licenses – Certified Financial Planner®, Chartered Life Underwriter®, Chartered Financial Consultant®, Certified in Long-Term Care®, as well as an insurance license in California, and several other states for life, disability, long-term care, and variable contracts. He also holds licenses for Series 7, 24, 63, and 65.

John is a native Southern Californian and UCLA graduate. He enjoys golfing, gardening, and spending time with family, especially his adult kids and grandchildren. John and his wife Julie reside in Camarillo, Calif., and together enjoy traveling and working on their 1938 farmhouse.
