Donald A. Cafero serves as Vice President Highland Capital Brokerage. In this capacity, Don provides insurance brokerage services for financial advisors, institutional accounts, and independent insurance agencies. Don specializes in the areas of life insurance, estate, and business succession planning. He brings over 35 years of experience in the financial industry.
Don joined Highland Capital Brokerage in 2008, after serving as Vice President for Merrill Lynch in their Private Wealth group. He provides insurance, trust, and estate planning services for high net worth clients. Don’s extensive knowledge helps financial advisors provide the tools necessary to advise their clients in the areas of insurance and estate planning. He provides this in a professional, prompt, and courteous manner. Don is a frequent speaker and trainer for financial advisors at many institutional and independent brokerage firms. He holds his Series 7 (General Securities Representative) and Series 65 (Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination) licenses, and is a Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®). Don is a member of the Financial Planners Association.
Don is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and a past member of the UCONN Board of Trustees. He is past president of the Southwest Connecticut chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. His community activities include: past member of Fairfield, Zoning Board of Appeals, past president of Norwalk City Council, and past chairman of the City of Norwalk’s finance committee. He sat on UCONN’s Hospital Board of Directors, and the National Kidney Foundation of Connecticut Board of Directors. Don enjoys golfing and skiing and he lives in Southport, CT.
