SOLUTIONS:

Browser Requirements

Minimum browser version for this site is Internet Explorer 5.5, or equivalent browser. Get the latest Microsoft browser by clicking the icon below.

For optimal viewing of this site be sure to have your screen set to a minimum of 800 pixel wide resolution. Other important settings in your browser are most likely correct by default. If they have been changed, however, be sure security settings prompt for ActiveX objects so that the Macromedia Shockwave Flash ActiveX is installed. See the help topic, Missing City Image, for more details.

Missing City Image

If you do not see the city images on the various web pages of www.highlandbrokerage.com, you may have a security setting that prevents this object from loading. The steps to permit this vary somewhat from browser to browser, but this is an example to correct it for Internet Explorer 6.0.

Under Tools/Internet Options/Security Tab, select the icon labeled 'Internet' and then select the "Custom Level" button. Under "ActiveX controls and plugs-ins", be sure it is set to "Prompt". Apply the settings and close the browser and re-open. The next time you visit these pages, it should prompt you for permission to load the plug-in required to view the city banners.

Always use caution when changing security settings in your browser. Consult your computer system administrator for details about optimizing your security settings.

Trouble Logging In

If you are receiving a message indicated your login is invalid, check your keyboard's Caps Lock status. Remember, user names and passwords are case sensitive. The login window also offers links to retrieve login information if needed. If you become logged out (after three unsuccessful login attempts), simply go to the main www.highlandbrokerage.com page and log back in.

Remote Access Fails - No Popup Window

If you are logged in and are clicking on a third party link (I.E. Online Status\My Information) and a second window does not open up, it is likely you have a browser or application that is preventing popup windows. If you intentionally installed a window blocking browser or application, try disabling it to resolve the problem. Consult the manufacturer of the blocking software for details. Unfortunately, depending on your browser security settings, there are sites that can install such applications on your computer without your knowledge. If you suspect this has happened, try clearing all the objects installed on your browser and then restart your browser. You can do this in Internet Explorer 6.0 by selecting Tools/Internet Options/General Tab/Settings/View Objects. Delete these files. The few files you may need will reinstall the next time you visit sites that use them. Consult your computer system administrator if you use specialized web applications that were installed on your computer prior to deleting.

System Logged Me Out

For security reasons, this site will automatically log you out if left idle for a period of longer than 120 minutes. Note that third party links do not exist on this same web server and viewing these other sites will not trigger any recognized activity on the www.highlandbrokerage.com site.  If you become logged out, simply go to the main www.highlandbrokerage.com page and log back in.

Virus Protection & Window Updates - Things You Should Know

The Internet has become a very powerful tool and with it, a need for a few precautions. If you are connected to The Internet, it is most likely your computer is being "scanned" by other computers with programs looking for vulnerabilities. Since new vulnerabilities are being discovered daily, it is very important to update your protection daily as well. Be sure to have a reputable anti-virus program like Symantec or McAfee, and have its library of virus definitions updated every day. Also be sure to have your operating system updated regularly as well. For current Microsoft product updates, click this link: WINDOW UPDATES. Always have your critical data backed up prior to running updates. Lastly, a professionally installed firewall is recommended. Be aware that it is very common to accidentally block important access when installing firewall software without proper guidance. Consult with a network security engineer for details on the best steps for your situation.
